For the installation I focused on creating an immersive interactive experience where the viewer gets taken though a tour through the neighbourhood.
The neighbourhood that I got for this project was 3071, we were walking around here I noticed a lot of public surveillance technology.
The final installation interacts with the viewer in an unexpected way.
Ultimately, I made the installation around the surveillance in the neighbourhood and the characteristics of the neighbourhood.
I designed a set that mimicked the inside of a surveillance room to stimulate a voyeuristic aspect and feel.
The video playing on the screens take the viewer trough a cryptic tour throughout the neighbourhood.
The video builds on Poems, visuals references of the neighbourhood and vintage technology aesthetics that can be found in surveillance rooms.
For the sound design of the video I designed omniscient sounds that convey an uneasy and eerie feeling
In the top corner of the room a I placed a video camera that was connected to the video trough tounchdesigner. I programmed specific intervals in the video where the video feed of the 'surveillance' camera was showed and unveiled that the viewer is also getting observed.
