We find it important to bringphysicality into the conversation and so, with many questions and dispersedenergy we got together to build a “Subversive Nomadic Network”.With the physical aspect being brought up as a portable library holdingvarious zines, writings and books, we aim to create a space of communityand coming together. Allowing the interactors to grab as well as to leavewhatever may be that they want to share and learn. A portal for the curiousminds. Learning, talking and debating hoping that the warm fire of desire willbe lit up and transformed into collective action.Into this equation we also bring up a non-physical layer; an interactive archivalwebsite. The website is hosted on a repurposed Samsung A3, making thesite mobile following alongside and with the library. It is only accessiblefrom a local network, making the information of the archive bound to thesafe spaces in which it is hosted. Emitting a flashing light every time newinformation is posted, it allows the users to choose how they want to interactwith it. Physical or nonphysical, reading and/or sharing, this is a space for thesubversion and creation of knowledge and desire.
We want to build a network that cultivates agency, awareness and comingtogether. As Haraway writes in the Cyborg Manifesto; “Liberation restson the construction of the consciousness, the imaginative apprehension ofoppression, and so of possibility”. So, we got our little minds to work and thought;what better way to do this than combining a dynamic entity -portable librarywithan awareness server?
The video follows an object that embodies our message, a mirror with the text 'Make your own museum' on it as well as a qr-code that takes you to a pdf where we illustrated exercises that one can do to do the act of museuming and document these.
A mirror because this shows the reflection of ones self and everything around them, to facilitate the search for something beautiful and because in an age of social media this is an object that attracts Gen-Z'ers to take selfies in front of.
In the video the viewer first follows individuals whom are museuming, through the lens of the mirror.
In the second part, you follow how this mirror is being transported as if it is a very important art piece
and make fun of the over seriousness of the art world
then the mirror gets hung up with kit, so it could stay there. There is a concluding scene of the mirror the next day.
The stimulate the nomadic idea, I made the cart modulair. So that I can be take apart for alternative transport and built in different configurations.
We also Made pillows to give facilitate a place of rest so that an individual can fully immerse themselves in the library.
